CICC, JuanHand, and Maya Unite to Combat Cybercrimes in the Philippines with the Launch of PROTECTA FINTECH

Taguig City, Philippines – December 2, 2024 – As online activities and digital transactions peak during the holiday season, PROTECTA PILIPINAS, in collaboration with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), JuanHand, and Maya, is taking decisive action to protect Filipinos from growing cyber threats. On December 6, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, a Fireside Chat at the National Cybercrime Hub in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, will provide practical solutions and launch PROTECTA FINTECH, an initiative aimed at fostering a safe and secure digital financial ecosystem.

Empowering Filipinos Against Cyber Threats During the Holidays

With the holiday season marking a significant surge in digital transactions, Filipinos are more vulnerable than ever to cybercrimes such as phishing, scams, and identity theft. The Fireside Chat will deliver timely and actionable insights to individuals and businesses on how to safeguard themselves against these growing threats.

Key sessions include:

  • Session 1: “Cybersecurity 101 this Holiday Season” – Practical strategies to identify and avoid phishing, scams, and identity theft during the holiday rush. Panelists include representatives from the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Justice – Office of Cybercrime, and Maya.
  • Session 2: “Cybersecurity in Fintech Lending” – Guidance on recognizing legitimate online lending platforms (OLPs) and updates on regulatory efforts to combat fraud. Panelists include experts from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Credit Information Corporation (CIC), Philippine National Police – Anti-Cybercrime Group, and JuanHand.
